Advent 2009 | A&B Catholic Youth Service

[star | december twentyfourth]

CONNECT. . .

Today is Christmas Eve. By this time tomorrow, Advent will be gone and Christmas will be here. We will be celebrating the birth of the Baby Jesus in the stable in Bethlehem. Before we get to that though, consider this...

God put a star in the sky above the place where the Baby Jesus was lying. This was a sign for the travellers from the East who were coming to see him. Sometimes we call them the 'three wise men', although that's not exactly how the Gospel describes them.

Anyway...

REFLECT. . .

A star is a pwerful thing to follow. It's bright, it's clear, and it's beautiful to look at.

The reality is that we're all following something. Some of us follow money or power, or populiarity. Some of us follow a religion or a trend or a fashion. There are all kinds of different things to chase after.

Hopefully this Advent has shown you exactly what it showed those travellers... that Jesus is worth following.

We are promised that he brings us life, happiness and so much more.

As you go through Christmas and the rest of the year, try to remember that.

Try to respond by praying, by going to Mass and by living a loving, caring life.

PRAY. . .

Loving Father,

Help us to follow you and to let nothing come between us and your love.

Just as you put the star in the sky to guide the travellers, you put so many beautiful things in our lives to guide us on the path of life.

We thank you, and we love you!

Amen.
