Advent 2009 | A&B Catholic Youth Service

[salvation | december sixth]

CONNECT. . .

Today is the Second Sunday of Advent.

The reason why Advent is important is because of the coming of Christ..

..and the reason Christ is important is because he is the Son of God, and also because he brought us Salvation by his death on the cross.

Human beings turned away form God almost as soon as they were created. By ourselves, we couldn't find our way back, but God sent Jesus to show us the way, and to be the way.

By dying on the cross, Jesus gave us he greatest act of love in history. This act of love drew us to him and brought us back to God.

REFLECT. . .

When we think about Salvation we think about the fact that we were brough back to the Love of God. By an amazing act of love, God came to his people and showed them the way.

How grateful are we for what God has done for us?

Does God always seem real to us?

Do we let him in, or do we push him away?

PRAY. . .

Loving Father,

We thank you for the amazing love you have shown us throughout history.

Time and time again we have turned away, and time and time again, you have gently and lovingly called us back.

Help us to answer your call this Advent.

May we celebrate in your Church, may we turn to you in prayer, and may we live lives of powerful love.

Amen.
