CONNECT. . .

Today's Gospel Reading...

"Jesus said, 'Come to me all you who labour and are overburdened, and I wll give you rest. Shoulder my yoke and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. Yes, my yoke is easy and my burden is light.'" [Matthew 11:28-30]

REFLECT. . .

Whenever people are in trouble, they look for somewhere where they can feel safe and for somewhere they can rest.

In a fierce storm, sailors look for a port. At the end of a hard day, people want to go home to the ones they love. When people are injured or very sick, they want to find a doctor as soon as possible.

Our lives are mostly happy. For most of us, life isn't too distressing. But it's still nice to know that there is always somebody we can turn to.

In this Gospel reading, Jesus is telling us that he is always there for us. He is our friend. We can turn to him when we've got problems or when we're happy... when we want to say sorry or thank you! Even if we just want to say hello...

PRAY. . .

Loving Father,

In a world that often seems confusing and impersonal and cold, your love brings light into the darkness, and love into our hearts.

We thank you for your gentle and humble heart, and we ask for the grace to never forget that you are beside us.

Amen.
