Advent 2009 | A&B Catholic Youth Service

[obedience | december third]

CONNECT. . .

Today we celebrate the Feast of St. Francix Xavier.

Francis Xavier was a priest who gave much of his life to spreading the Christian faith in the East. He went to places like India, Japan and China and laid the foundations for many Christian communities.

Francis is remembered as one of the great saints. He was obedient to what he believed God wanted him to do and he stuck at it.

Francis was able to tell a lot of people about the love of God and about the story of the baby Jesus who was born in a stable in Bethlehem.

REFLECT. . .

In today's Gospl at Mass, we are reminded how important it is to be obedient like Francis.

Jesus compares people who listen to him to those who don't. He says that people who ignore him are like those who build their houses on sand. When the rains come, the house is washed away. People who listen to him, though, are like people who build their houses on rock. No matter what comes, it's solid!

PRAY. . .

Loving Father,

Help us to build our lives on firm foundations.

There are so many people in our faith who have worke hard to bring us the messages that we celebrate this Advent and Christmas.

Help us to put what you have taught us into practice. Help us to build lives that are solid and true!

Amen.
