Advent 2009 | A&B Catholic Youth Service

[miracles | december second]

CONNECT. . .

In today's Gospel at Mass, we hear one of the most famous miracle stories of Jesus.

It's the story in which Jesus comes across a crowd of thousands with little food to eat. His disciples search around for food, but all they have is a handful of loaves and a few small fish. Miraculously, though, Jesus multiplies it and there is enough to feed the whole crowd and plenty left over afterwards.

The story can be found in Matthew Chapter 15. Have a look if you get a minute...

REFLECT. . .

Miracles are a great thing because they are out of the ordinary.

For some people, it's pretty hard to believe in something special until something special happens.

Miracles still happen today. But we don't need huge miracles to have faith. In reality, there are small miracles happening around us every day.

When somebody who is busy gives a few minutes to help another person, that's a miracle.

When somebody forgives instead of getting angry, that's a miracle.

We can use Advent to make sure that we don't miss the small miracles that happen every day.

PRAY. . .

Loving Father,

Help me not to miss the miracles this Advent and Christmas.

Remind me too, that I can be a miracle to others.

Amen.
