Advent 2009 | A&B Catholic Youth Service

[immaculate | december eighth]

CONNECT. . .

December 8th is an important day in the Catholic Church. It's the Feast of the Immaculate Conception.

On this day we remember the fact that Mary lived her entire life without commiting any sins.

Because she had such a special job to do, she was born unique.

She was set apart to do something truly amazing.

That's why she holds such a special place in the heart of our faith.

REFLECT. . .

We are really lucky in the Christian faith, because we have so many amazing people to look to. They give us an amazing example of what it means to be followers of God.

Catholics believe that the prayers of Mary are very powerful indeed. Whenever we have troubles or problems, we can ask Mary to pray along with us and to give her Son, Jesus, a sort of tap on the shoulder for us!

Spend some time today talking to Mary. Ask her to pray for you. Say the Hail Mary, or one of the other Marian prayers if you know any...

PRAY. . .

Holy Mary, Mother of God

On this day we remember you in a special way and we give thanks for you.

When the Angel asked you to give birth to the Son of God, you just said Yes.

Pray for me to have the same courage as you.

Pray for me to be as generous and loving as you when I am asked to do something important.

Amen.
